The travelin' man's most adaptable shoes

Prada tumbled-calfskin loafers; Photo: Jonathan Kantor "I can't travel without driving shoes," says frequent flyer Tom Kalenderian, the men's general merchandise manager for Barneys New York. "They're so light and easy to pack, and it's important to have shoes without laces so you can just kick them off during a flight." Drivers are identified by their soft, soleless construction, and while they are great with a sport jacket, they are too unstructured to pair with a suit. But Prada's new tumbled-calfskin loafers—with their flex-construction leather soles—are the apotheosis of versatility. "These are something between drivers and penny loafers, and they would look appropriate with a suit," Kalenderian says of the plush moccasin-style shoes, which expand with your feet when traveling many hours on a plane. "Just remember to pack them flat. If they stay bent for too long, they'll get creases in the leather."
