What can I do to make my back stop hurting after I play golf?

Start treating golf like a sport. Successful pro athletes don't hit the court of field without priming their bodies for action. Neither should you.

Strengthen your back and torso with targeted exercises—I like back extensions and bicycle crunches—and do this stretch before you tee off: Standing in you address position, hold your five iron horizontally in front of you with your hands at each end and your elbows straight. Turn back and through, as if you were swinging. Pause for five seconds at the top of your backswing and again in the finish position. Repeat.
